    LOCAL HAND AND FOOT BATHS

Local baths may be used separately for the feet or hands and, in certain cases, as sitz baths.

According to the original instructions, local baths are generally recommended for elderly or weakened individuals for whom full-body baths are contraindicated or cannot be carried out for technical reasons, for example in a holiday home, where only a shower is available, or where there is no hot water supply.

Sitz baths are described for individuals for whom heat treatments involving the upper body are not recommended for various reasons, for example in cases of mastopathy, severe heart disease, or thyroid disorders.

According to the original description, local baths have practically no contraindications. For 10 litres of water at 36°C, 2–3 ml of the white solution or yellow emulsion is sufficient.

    Directions for Local Baths

Pour 10 litres of warm water at 36°C into a bucket, deep basin, or another suitable container. If the container has a different capacity, adjust the amount of the preparation proportionally.

Dissolve 2–3 ml of the solution in 500 ml of hot water at 60–70°C, then pour it into the container while stirring vigorously.

Immerse the feet or hands in the solution for 15 minutes. Areas not covered by the solution, such as the knee or hip area, may additionally be treated with a damp compress soaked in the solution from the container.

When using local baths, a tingling sensation may not always occur. With this method, the concentration of the solution may also be gradually increased by a small amount with each subsequent procedure.

To enhance the effect, the original instructions state that after the bath, the relevant areas, such as joints, muscles, or the spine, may be rubbed with the turpentine emulsion.

After the procedure, wrap the feet or hands in a warm woollen blanket. A herbal infusion may also be consumed.
